How we spent our anniversary

Aside from going to Jamaica for our 5th anniversary, I think this was my favorite anniversary date so far. Because it fell on a Sunday (and we have a baby) the first part of the day was pretty normal. We went to church in the morning, came home and hung out while Millie napped and then got ready to go out to dinner. We considered going downtown, but we like to put M down for bed before we go out (so I can nurse her) so we didn’t leave the house until 630 and decided to stay local. We head up to Ipswich and went to the 1640 Hart House. The ambiance of the restaurant is not exactly ‘romantic’ but the food is to die for. Really, it is so good. Imagine being in a house that was built in 1640 and you basically have a picture of what it was like (slanted floors, small windows, candle light, dark wood walls). But really if you are ever in the area, don’t let that deter you, the food is probably the best I have had at a restaurant in a really long time. We had this amazing artichoke dip for an appetizer (really much better than any you have had before, I promise, we order it a lot at restaurants). D had steak and I had seafood risotto (I have been reading Bread and Wine and she got me wanting Risotto). Instead of staying there for dessert we decided to drive over to the Cheese Cake Factory for some cheese cake. Totally worth it. Plus it gave us a reason to stay out longer.

It was one of those nights when we had really good conversation (and believe me just because you are married doesn’t guarantee good conversation, we have had our fair share of nights out when we don’t really have anything new to talk about) and a lot of laughs. We managed to talk about lots of things, not just Millie. Talking about future plans and past successes. It really was a wonderful evening.
